Ayodhya City Climate Action Plan

Ayodhya, a key cultural destination in Uttar Pradesh, has undergone transformational changes driven by developmental initiatives led by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. With ongoing climate action efforts, including the Solar City Ayodhya programme—promoting rooftop solar, solar trees, and solar street lights—alongside participatory greening initiatives through the Green Ayodhya Fund, the city is making significant strides towards sustainability. The Thermal Cooling Action Plan and Vedic City Sustainability Index further reinforce this progress. However, with Ayodhya’s population projected to reach 12 lakhs by 2031, sustained climate action remains crucial. Envisioned by the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Uttar Pradesh, the Ayodhya City Climate Action Plan (CCAP) aligns with SAPCC Version 2.0, providing a strategic roadmap to support India’s net-zero targets. This plan addresses climate challenges across energy, waste and wastewater management, tourism, rejuvenation of water bodies, and green spaces, ensuring sustainability efforts align with the city’s development.
