JOB TITLE: MANAGER / SR OFFICER – ENERGY SYSTEM MODELLER

Vasudha Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation working in the clean energy and climate policy space. Vasudha Foundation has an FCRA registration with the FCRA Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs and has 12A and 80G registration under the Income Tax Act. Vasudha Foundation works on multiple projects, funded by various philanthropic organisations.

We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Energy System Modeller to join our dynamic team. As an Energy System Modeller, you will play a crucial role in analyzing, simulating, and optimizing energy systems to support sustainable and efficient energy solutions. This position requires a strong background in energy modeling, data analysis, and a passion for contributing to the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

Purpose of the Role:

• Develop and maintain detailed mathematical models of energy systems (TIMES, LEAP, OSeMOSyS etc), including power system modelling, both at the National and sub-national level.
• Working knowledge of multiple analytical tools to undertake cost-benefit analysis, macro-economic analysis, forecasting, spatial analysis etc. are desirable
• Collect, process, and analyze data related to energy consumption, production, and efficiency.
• Develop future scenario building for various aspects of the power and energy sector such as ‘energy supply and demand projection’ et al.
• Validate energy models using real-world data and performance metrics and continuously refine models based on feedback and emerging technologies.
• Report preparation and helping the think tank in formulating policy suggestions to the relevant ministries.

Qualification and Experience:

• Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Energy Systems, or a related discipline with at least 2-3 years of experience in the energy/climate domain.
• Candidate must have proven experience in energy system modeling and simulation.
• Candidate must have good analytical skills and data handling capability, strong programming skills, with experience in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar.
• Outstanding English writing and speaking skills for clear and impactful communication.
