Purpose of the Role

Vasudha Foundation is looking for a Senior Officer – Remote Sensing with 5+ years of experience. The role focuses on land use/land cover mapping, crop classification, change detection, and large-scale geospatial workflows, contributing to research-driven projects within a policy and think tank setting. The selected candidate will be part of the Geospatial Analytics team, working closely with experts across climate & clean power domains.

Responsibilities

• Support in remote sensing data acquisition, preprocessing, and analysis.
• Apply image classification techniques for land use/land cover mapping.
• Identify and extract supporting datasets for accurate geospatial analysis.
• Conduct change detection studies to monitor environmental and urban transformations.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver climate, energy, and sustainability insights.
• Contribute to policy-relevant research outputs in clean energy, climate, and environment verticals.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s in Geo-informatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Geography, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in GIS and remote sensing projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in image classification and change detection analysis.

Desirable Skills

• Proficiency in Google Earth Engine (GEE).
• Experience with open-source tools (QGIS, GRASS, GDAL, Python libraries) and proprietary platforms (Arc GIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI).
• Hands-on experience in any programming skills, i.e. Python/R and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Research orientation with the ability to publish or present outputs.
• Adaptability to new tools, techniques, and evolving circumstances.
