Assistant Manager/Manager – Energy Transition (Industrial Decarbonisation)

Location: New Delhi

Purpose of the Role

  • Lead and expand Vasudha Foundation’s industrial decarbonisation work, with a focus on electrification of industrial heat and thermal energy systems across MSME-intensive manufacturing clusters.
  • Bring a multidimensional lens to the transition by treating it as a technology, policy, finance, and people problem and build the evidence base, partnerships and technology and financing pathways needed to move clusters from pilot to scale.
  • Represent Vasudha with industry associations, technology providers, financial institutions and government stakeholders, positioning the organisation as a credible technical and policy partner in industrial decarbonisation.
  • Contribute to Vasudha’s broader energy programme, including linkages with the organisation’s work on district decarbonisation pathways, renewable energy uptake and data access, as desired by the senior management.

Responsibilities

1. Concept Development

  • Develop new project concepts and proposals in the industrial decarbonisation space, identifying emerging opportunities across clusters, technologies, renewable energy uptake and integration, financing models, amongst others.
  • Contribute to programmatic strategy, identifying how industrial decarbonisation work connects with Vasudha’s wider energy transition portfolio.
  • Support fundraising and donor engagement through concept notes, presentations and reporting.

2. Project Implementation

  • Lead execution of assigned tasks, ensuring technical rigour, quality and timeliness, while coordinating across internal teams and external partners.
  • Support in conducting field engagements and techno-economic analysis across MSME clusters.
  • Draft technical reports, policy briefs, working papers and stakeholder-specific action agendas for policymakers, industry bodies and financiers.
  • Design and facilitate multi-stakeholder workshops, dialogues and training sessions for advancing industrial decarbonisation, encompassing new technologies, renewable energy procurement, socio-economic impacts, skilling needs assessments, amongst others.

3. Networking, Meetings and Conferences

  • Represent Vasudha in industry forums, policy dialogues and conferences on industrial decarbonisation and clean energy.
  • Build and sustain relationships with cluster associations, industry bodies, technology providers, financiers and relevant government departments.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Public Policy or any Energy/development-related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of industrial ecosystems, thermal processes and/or electrification technologies, combined with the ability to translate this into policy and financing narratives.
  • Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills; ability to independently produce high-quality technical and policy documents.
  • Comfort of working across disciplines: engineering, finance, and the policy/institutional dimensions of the transition.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in the energy/development sector.
  • Prior experience of working with think tanks/consulting groups, engaging with industry associations, MSMEs, financiers or government stakeholders is preferred.
