Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a passionate and technically strong Assistant Manager / Manager – Clean Heat for Industry to join our Clean Power Program. This role will focus on addressing industrial thermal energy demand through electrification, renewable energy integration, energy efficiency, and emerging clean-heat technologies. It will involve working across different industrial sectors and developing detailed process archetypes that map thermal energy requirements, temperature ranges, existing fuel use, equipment configurations, and opportunities for electrification at both the unit and cluster scales. The candidate will be expected to translate this technical understanding into practical technology, policy, and implementation pathways for Clean Heat adoption across industries.

Responsibilities

Project Management & Technical Research

• Analyse policies, regulations, electricity tariffs, open-access frameworks, and other market factors affecting clean heat for industries.
• Understand and assess industrial manufacturing processes and thermal energy demand across industrial sectors.
• Identify low-, medium-, and high-temperature heat applications and assess their potential for electrification.
• Evaluate clean-heat technologies including industrial heat pumps, electric boilers, electric furnaces, induction heating, resistance heating, infrared/microwave heating, and thermal energy storage.
• Conduct technical feasibility and techno-economic assessments of industrial heat electrification opportunities.
• Assess the integration of renewable electricity, captive RE, open access, battery storage, and thermal storage with industrial processes.
• Undertake research on clean heat, electrification, energy efficiency, and renewable energy integration.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with industry associations, government departments, DISCOMs, regulators, and state nodal agencies. 
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, consultations, and capacity-building programmes. 
• Represent Vasudha Foundation at conferences, technical forums, and stakeholder consultations. 

Field Implementation

• Undertake field visits to industrial facilities to understand processes, thermal applications, fuel consumption, equipment configurations, and operating practices.
• Support energy and process assessments to identify opportunities for electrification and renewable energy integration.
• Work with technical partners and industries to develop and evaluate pilot projects and demonstration models.
• Monitor implementation of industrial clean heat interventions and document technical and operational learnings.

Innovation & Business Development

• Contribute new project ideas, research proposals, and funding opportunities. 
• Support development of innovative concepts in clean energy space.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy Studies, Renewable Energy, Energy Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong technical understanding of industrial processes and thermal energy systems.
• Experience in conducting technical assessments, energy audits, feasibility studies, techno-economic analysis, etc.

Preferred Skills

• Strong understanding of industrial processes and energy/heat requirements.
• Understanding of clean heat technologies, their technology readiness levels (TRLs), and expected development trajectories.
• Understanding of industrial temperature requirements and the suitability of different electrification technologies across temperature ranges.
• Knowledge of technologies such as industrial heat pumps, electric boilers, induction heating, resistance heating, electric furnaces, thermal storage, and other clean-heat technologies.
• Understanding of industrial fuels including coal, petcoke, furnace oil, natural gas, biomass, and electricity, and their applications across industrial processes.
• Excellent report writing and analytical skills. 
• Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills. 
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. 
• Willingness to travel extensively for field assignments.
