Senior Policy Officer – Climate Change

Job Description

The Senior Policy Officer will be a core part of Vasudha Foundation’s Climate Team and will support projects that inform and influence India’s climate policy landscape. The role is ideal for candidates passionate about climate action and capable of blending qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis, stakeholder engagements with excellent communication written and oral communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Quantitative and Statistical Analyses, Research and Writing 

  • Conduct research and quantitative analyses on climate change, emissions, clean energy, air pollution and other cross-cutting sectors 
  • Assess latest literature, geospatial studies, and emission inventories to produce top quality analytical written outputs that inform evidence-based policymaking and advance low-carbon development and climate resilient growth
  • Support in creating impactful communications materials including briefing papers, policy briefs, blogs, presentations, and articles.
  • Support in data visualization and representation, with the ability to design clear, compelling, and visually impactful outputs (e.g., infographics, dashboards, and policy visuals) that effectively communicate complex analyses to diverse audiences.
  • Design, develop and administer surveys, and analyse outputs. Present findings in easy to understand yet interesting formats targeted at various audiences.
  • Contribute to a growing pipeline of climate-related learning and projects engagements.
  • Engage with key stakeholders including Government Departments/ Ministries/Agencies, local administrations, CSOs, NGOs and academia as per project requirements.
  • Coordinate with the team and stakeholders to organize meetings, conferences, field visits and focus group discussions.
  • Create meeting briefs, press releases, event reports etc.

Requirements

  • A motivated, creative, and analytic individual with a passion for climate change with a Master’s degree in relevant subjects.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in climate change space working with government (preferred) and/or private sector
  • Experience handling large data sets with good command of R, MS Excel, STATA, Python, Canva and other statistical or data visualization tools will be a strong advantage.
  • Excellent research skills with a good understanding of: climate science, air pollution, climate policies and programmes, regulatory and legal frameworks, GHG inventorization, energy transition etc
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to a range of audience.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and an ability to work collaboratively
