Job Description
This individual will co-lead projects at the intersection of climate and energy policies, research, mitigation and adaptation planning and stakeholder engagement. The role demands experience in managing diverse climate-related projects and engaging with government institutions and other key stakeholders and bringing a quantitative assessment lens to strengthen the projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Shared leadership in projects on sub-national climate planning, decarbonization plan development, and other key projects.
- Co-lead quantitative and qualitative assessments using specialised tools including R, python and other statistical or data visualisation tools.
- Undertake complex analyses and assessments including climate and energy policies to help identify and quantify impacts.
- Liaise with a wide array of stakeholders including ministries, government departments, CSOs, NGOs, researchers and academia and others for project related activities.
- Design, facilitate, and support organisation of multi-stakeholder consultations, meetings, workshops, focus groups discussions.
- Support coordination within the organisation for cross-functional project activities.
- Support development of technical outputs and communication materials in the form of reports, briefs, blogs which translate technical information related to climate change science, policy, regulation and legislation, into easy-to-understand, business-relevant information.
- Excellent skills in data visualisation and representation, with the ability to conceptualise clear, compelling, and visually impactful outputs (e.g., infographics, dashboards, and policy visuals) that effectively communicate complex analyses to diverse audiences.
- Support building institutional relationships with national/state-level departments and technical partners.
- Support programme strategy, proposal development, and donor communication.
- Contribute to a growing pipeline of climate-related learning and engagement projects.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Climate Science/Modelling, Development Economics, or similar field.
- 4-6 years of experience in climate or energy projects is a must.
- Good hold or expertise in any one or more subjects: energy/renewable energy, transport and urban planning, land-use/forestry, or air pollution mitigation.
- Strong grasp of India’s climate governance frameworks and energy transition programs.
- Ability to develop analytical methodologies and frameworks
- Experience in developing and applying models for CO2 and non-CO2 emissions (abatement cost estimation, scenario analysis, integrated assessment approaches) will be a strong advantage.
- Experience with uncertainty/sensitivity analysis and emissions scenario modelling
- Competency and familiarity with analytical and visual tools including but not limited to MS Excel, R, STATA, Canva etc
- Knowledge of IPCC Guidelines for National GHG Inventories, BUR/NATCOM processes, and India’s national reporting system will be useful
- Additional government engagement, or programme management will be an advantage.
- Proven leadership in project execution and external communications is a must.
- Familiarity with climate finance flows, MRV systems, and Just Transition discussions is an advantage.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
