Vasudha Foundation, in collaboration with the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), successfully hosted the Conclave on Zero Emission Truck (ZET) Transition for Small-to-Medium Fleet Operators in India. This landmark event convened officials from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), industry leaders, fleet operators, and technology providers to deliberate on the opportunities and challenges in transitioning India’s trucking sector towards zero-emission solutions.
A key highlight of the event was the message from Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, reinforcing India’s commitment to sustainable transportation. We were also privileged to host distinguished speakers, including:
- Shri Mahmood Ahmed, Additional Secretary, MoRTH
- Mr Bal Malkit Singh, Chairman-Core Committee & Former President, AIMTC
- Mr Amritlal Madan, President, AIMTC
Strategic Collaborations to Drive the ZET Transition
In a major step towards accelerating the ZET transition, two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed:
- Vasudha Foundation and AIMTC, to collaborate on policies, awareness-building, and support mechanisms for small and medium fleet (SMF) operators adopting ZETs.
- Vasudha Foundation and Fleetx, to leverage digital solutions that enhance fleet efficiency and sustainability, making ZET adoption more viable for SMF operators.
Expert Insights and Industry Presentations
In his welcome address, Mr Srinivas Krishnaswamy, CEO of Vasudha Foundation, highlighted the trucking industry’s pivotal role in India’s net-zero ambitions and the importance of targeted interventions to support SMF operators in adopting ZETs. Mr Jaideep Saraswat, Associate Director at Vasudha Foundation, emphasised the role of pilot projects in building fleet operators’ confidence and underscored the need for a collaborative, ecosystem-wide approach.
The conclave also featured insightful presentations from industry leaders showcasing innovative solutions for fleet decarbonisation:
- EVage Motors presented its ZET offerings, emphasising fast-charging capabilities and the safety of LTO battery cells.
- Propel Industries highlighted the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach, debunking common myths around ZET adoption.
- Fleetx showcased its digitalisation modules for fleet operators, demonstrating seamless integration of existing trucks with ZETs for optimised operations.
Strengthening the Path to Sustainable Trucking
The event successfully created a unified platform for industry stakeholders to explore ZET transition strategies, financing mechanisms, and digital innovations. By fostering dialogue between OEMs, fleet operators, policymakers, and technology providers, this initiative marks a critical step in mainstreaming zero-emission trucking in India.
Vasudha Foundation remains committed to supporting fleet operators in their clean mobility journey and working closely with industry partners to shape an economically viable and environmentally sustainable trucking future.
