Policy Officer/Assistant Manager – Low Carbon Pathways

Location: New Delhi
Roles & Responsibilities

Purpose of the Role:

  • Develop and deepen Vasudha Foundation’s work in the space of low carbon economy that includes, and is not limited to, research and analysis of policies and regulatory issues in the sectors of coal, power, transport, industries, agriculture and land use. 
  • Establish policy linkages, identify leverage points and integrate them into action plans developed at the national and sub-national levels by the Vasudha Foundation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Research & Policy Analysis
  • Capture legislative, regulatory and policy developments pertaining to low-carbon pathways and energy transition at the national and sub-national level, analyse data and extract actionable insights for government and non-government stakeholders.
  • Engage with key stakeholders for research and documentation. 
  • Develop knowledge products including articles, newsletters, policy briefs and other such research pieces. 
  • Collaborate with teams within the organisation to converge knowledge.
  • Any other assignment that the senior management may deem necessary for achieving organisational objectives.
  1. Networking/Knowledge Positioning
  • Assist the team in curating convenings, webinars and other stakeholder engagements. 
  • Undertake other initiatives for positioning of knowledge, whether project-related or otherwise, in external events and meetings.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Master’s degree with specialisation in Energy / Economics / Public Policy.
  • Strong research background with adequate understanding of research methods and quantitative skills. Working knowledge of R, Python, and other statistical software is an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience and knowledge:

  • Minimum 2 (for Policy Officer) or 3-5 years (for Senior Policy Officer / Assistant Manager) of relevant work experience in research, policy engagement, and project management. (Candidates with more than 6 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply for senior roles)
  • Prior experience in writing white papers, articles, policy briefs and research reports.
  • Strong track record of team and project management, including timely delivery of outputs. 
  • Experience of working in energy policy, climate policy, and technoeconomic analysis is desirable.

Document requirements:

  • Cover letter clearly explaining how the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skills fit with the role at Vasudha Foundation. Candidates are also requested to mention any prior experience with energy policy, low-carbon pathways, state-level climate action plans, GHG accounting and energy modelling.
  • Writing sample, which could be a published journal paper, technical report or unpublished work.
