Senior Policy Officer/Assistant Manager – Grid Planning (Climate Resilience)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join our team as Senior Policy Officer/Assistant Manager – Grid Planning (Climate Resilience). This position supports interdisciplinary research and analysis to assess climate change impacts on grid flexibility, resilience, reliability, and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on emerging grid technologies, flexibility solutions, and climate-resilient power systems
  • Assess climate change impacts on electricity generation, demand, and grid infrastructure, providing insights for long-term planning and investment frameworks
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and case studies relevant to resilient grid infrastructure in the Indian context
  • Contribute to high-quality written outputs including policy briefs, technical reports, and peer reviewed journal articles
  • Engage with government bodies, regulators, utilities, system operators, and civil society to support climate-resilient grid policies and infrastructure
  • Participate in site visits, fieldwork, and meetings as required; perform additional tasks assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Postgraduate degree in Engineering with specialisation in Energy, Power Systems, Electrical networks, Renewable Energy or related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in transmission and distribution networks, grid planning, grid flexibility, power system operations, and digital grid solutions
  • Knowledge of climate change impacts on energy systems and risk strategies for enhancing grid resilience is an advantage
  • Experience engaging with government agencies, regulators, utilities, or other stakeholders on grid planning or climate resilience aspects
  • Proficiency in probabilistic risk assessments, power system modelling tools, programming languages such as Python and MATLAB
  • Experience with AI and machine learning techniques is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills
  • Experience in presenting technical work and writing briefs, blogs, articles and research papers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment
