Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join our team as Senior Policy Officer/Assistant Manager – Renewable Grid Integration. This position plays a critical role in conducting research and analysis to support the reliable, affordable, and efficient integration of renewable energy technologies into electricity grids. This role supports interdisciplinary efforts on long-term policy and planning frameworks that can accelerate the adoption of technologies and solutions that support grid flexibility, resilience, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative evidence based research and data analysis pertaining to renewable energy grid integration with a focus on emerging grid technologies, infrastructure planning, system reliability, and modern grid solutions
- Identify regulatory, institutional, and market barriers to renewable integration and grid modernisation and evaluate the resilience of existing and future energy systems
- Document lessons, best practices, case studies and actionable insights on resilient grid infrastructure planning and grid solutions that will be applicable for Indian context
- Interpret and apply technical inputs from system models and scenario analysis to evaluate potential policy pathways and grid impacts
- Contribute to high-quality written outputs including policy briefs, technical reports, project relevant articles, and peer-reviewed journal articles
- Engage with various stakeholders including Government bodies, regulatory commissions, utilities, power system planners, load dispatch centres, energy market operators and civil society organisations to contribute to the discourse of a resilient and robust grid infrastructure
- Conduct site visits for data collection, travel for field work and meetings whenever required
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the reporting manager or senior leadership
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Postgraduate degree in Engineering with specialisation in Energy Systems, Energy Economics, Power Systems or related field
- At least 4–6 years of experience in the area of electricity systems, transmission and distribution networks, grid planning and power system operations
- Strong technical understanding of emerging grid technologies, renewable energy technologies, distributed energy resources, power infrastructure investments, and digital grid solutions
- Working knowledge of tariff design, tariff policies, network regulations, power market design and grid flexibility
- Proficiency in statistical analysis, power system modelling tools and programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, OpenDSS is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills
- Experience in presenting technical work and writing briefs, blogs, articles and research papers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment
