Senior Policy Officer – Climate Resilience 

Location: Bangalore 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join our team as Senior Policy Officer – Climate Resilience. This full-time role is to support evidence-based research, policy analysis and low-carbon and resilient strategies in cities. This role will focus on aspects of advancing climate action, low carbon and resilient solutions at sub national  and local level. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative inter-disciplinary research and analysis on various aspects including climate change impact on cities, nature based solutions, sustainable cooling strategies, urban governance and adaptation finance. 
  • Identify climate-related risk and vulnerabilities, develop strategies for a low-carbon and resilient strategies. 
  • Author/co-author policy briefs, blogs, technical reports, and journal papers documenting research and analysis
  • Actively participate in team meetings and stakeholder discussions to present findings of the analysis and support in curating stakeholder discussions.
  • Undertake other tasks or assignments as assigned by the line manager/senior management.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Postgraduate degree in (urban/regional) Planning/City Planning/Urban Policy/ Urban Development or equivalent Social Sciences (relevant to urban development) from reputed institution. 
  • 3–5 years of demonstrated technical and analytical experience in climate resilience, urban planning, adaptation finance with proven analytical skills.
  • Experience in developing climate action plan, flood resilience plan, cooling/heat action plan, urban cooling and climate resilience strategies will be an added advantage. 
  • Strong knowledge of climate resilience frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and vulnerability analysis. 
  • Knowledge of policies and programs related to urban development, cooling technologies, urban heat management, flood management or other related areas 
  • Proficiency in working with large datasets, statistical analysis, ArcGIS, and data and design visualization tools 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English
  • Strong ability to work in a collaborative team environment
